BTS Wins Three Awards at the 2026 MTV VMAs

BTS took home three awards at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, 2026, winning Song of the Year, Best K-Pop and Best Group. The group won in every category for which it was nominated.

BTS Wins Song of the Year for “SWIM”

BTS won Song of the Year for “SWIM,” the title track from their fifth studio album, ARIRANG.

The win marked BTS’s first victory in the Song of the Year category at the VMAs and made the group the first K-pop group to win the category.

“SWIM” and ARIRANG

“SWIM” serves as the lead/title track of ARIRANG, which was released in March 2026.

The song is part of the album’s 14-track lineup, which includes music reflecting the members’ experiences and perspectives during their period away from full-group activities.

BTS Wins Best K-Pop

BTS also won Best K-Pop for “SWIM.”

This became the group’s fourth win in the category and added another VMA achievement to their international award history.

BTS Wins Best Group

BTS’s third award of the night was Best Group.

The 2026 win was their fifth in the category, following four consecutive wins from 2019 through 2022.

BTS Wins in Every Category They Were Nominated For

BTS entered the 2026 MTV VMAs with three nominations:

• Song of the Year — “SWIM”
• Best K-Pop — “SWIM”
• Best Group

The group won all three categories.

BTS Shares Message With ARMY

Through BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS thanked ARMY for their continued support.

The group described ARIRANG as a new beginning and said winning Song of the Year for “SWIM” was particularly meaningful because of the people who supported their music.

BTS’ 2026 Return

The VMA wins came during BTS’s first year of renewed full-group activities following their return with ARIRANG.

The group released the album on March 20, 2026, and subsequently embarked on the BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’. BIGHIT MUSIC’s official tour page lists the 2026 tour as part of the group’s current activities.
